Ulli Lommel (1944) is Rupp from the newspaper Tagesanzeiger.

Born in the Polish town of Zielenzig, his father was the actor Ludwig Manfred Lommel. After he received a scholarship to the UFA’s young talent program in Berlin, he starred in his first roles there at the Renaissance-Theater. Entertainment movies followed until he played the lead in Fassbinder’s LOVE IS COLDER THAN DEATH in 1969. His subsequent participations included roles in WHITY, BEWARE OF A HOLY WHORE, and CHINESE ROULETTE. For him, like for so many others from the early years, Fassbinder was a mentor who also encouraged him to work as director. Among his movies are TENDERNESS OF WOLVES (1973) and ADOLF AND MARLENE (1976), produced in collaboration with Fassbinder´s Tango-Film. Since 1977, Ulli Lommel has been working and living as director and producer in Los Angeles. He shot BLANK GENERATION and COCAINE COWBOYS with Andy Warhol. THE BOOGEYMAN (1980) introduced him to a larger audience. Later works were primarily thrillers and horror movies.
