Ernst Küsters (1930 – 2006) plays one of the bodyguards.

Fassbinder held this WDR chief lighting technician in very high esteem. One peculiar facet in their relationship is the fact that they enjoyed playing pinball against each other during shooting breaks. Born in Düsseldorf, this was where he began his career as film lighting technician. In 1958, he began to work for the WDR and soon became chief lighting technician. In 1975, he was made first master lighting technician. He was involved in all the major WDR in-house productions. People liked him for his calmness and his relaxed attitude even in the most challenging situations.
